Fancy Decorated Oreos and a Giveaway

Are these Oreos not the cutest things ever? After seeing this post Kara and I agreed that Fancy Oreos were definitely in our future…a necessity for sure. We ordered molds and a wide assortment of transfer sheets and waited patiently for them to arrive.

Once they came they were immediately added to our weekend agenda. We wondered if these would really be as easy as they looked since Kara and I both have a tendency to screw up the simplest of recipes. But surprisingly they were a cinch. The Chocolate Covered Oreos popped out of the molds flawlessly and the transfer sheets turned out almost perfect. We were très impressed.

Since we baked about a trillion (give or take a few) cookies over the weekend, our cookie trays this Christmas will be beautiful, full of variety! Our Fancy Oreos are the perfect decorative accents to our cookie trays. They are creative and pretty…and who doesn’t like chocolate covered Oreos?

Equipment

  • Mold and Transfer Sheets

Ingredients

  • Oreos
  • 1-2 cup melting chocolate (milk, dark or white)

Instructions

  • Melt chocolate until smooth. Spoon 1 tablespoon of melted chocolate into each mold. Place an Oreo cookie in each mold, laying carefully on top of the chocolate. Top with more chocolate, enough to cover the top and sides of the Oreo completely. Place in the refrigerator to harden and set for about 10-15 minutes. Remove and carefully flip the mold upside down. The Chocolate Covered Oreos will pop out easily and will be smooth and shiny.
  • Cut as many transfer sheets as you need into small squares, just large enough to cover the top surface of the Oreo. Set aside.
  • Using the back of a spoon, spread a thin layer of melted chocolate on the top side of each Oreo, this will be the glue for the transfers to stick to. Lay the transfer sheets carefully on top of each Oreo. Use something flat, like the smooth edge of a meat pounder, to gently press the transparency down. Press down evenly and make sure there are no air bubbles.
  • Place the Oreos, with the transfers sheets still on, back in the fridge for 5-10 minutes. Remove and slowly peel the transfer sheet off. If the pattern does not come off then the chocolate has not hardened enough. Pop back in the fridge and give it a few more minutes before trying to peel off again. Store in the fridge, or someplace cool.
