I think this recipe falls under the category of “man food.” Every week Kelly and I ask Cliff if there is anything he would like us to make for the blog. If it weren’t for his input it would pretty much be cake, cookies, and cupcakes every day. Sometimes he has some good ideas and sometimes I think his ideas are not original enough. Last week he suggested pizza burgers. Now, I like pizza burgers just as much as the next person but they are kind of boring. Doesn’t everyone know how to make a pizza burger? Is it really that creative of an idea? Do people really need a recipe for a pizza burger? After doing a little research, I found out that the answer was: people do not know how to make pizza burgers. The google results I found left a lot to be desired. So, the concept of a pizza burger may not be the most original idea ever but it seems like the world needed another recipe for pizza burgers.
This is our take on the pizza burger. Our pizza burger is not as large as a pizza. It does not have pepperoni. But it does have lots of “extras” both in the burger and on the burger. Also, we make ours with garlic bread buns. There is garlic in every step of this recipe. In the burger: check. In the topping: check. On the bun: check. Lots and lots of garlic. Plus, cheese in the burger and on the burger. I had never grilled a bun until I met Cliff. The man likes his buns grilled, so now I grill them. The addition of butter and garlic was all my idea though. This recipe can easily be adapted to fit your likes. Sometimes, we add mushrooms to the meat and leave out the peppers. You could also add onions. Just make sure you include a garlic bread bun. And pizza sauce. The sauce is pretty essential to the pizza burger.
Here is what you’ll need
Combine the ground sirloin, cheese, peppers, salt, pepper, garlic, and Italian seasoning
Form into patties
Spread the butter/garlic onto your buns

Get your mushrooms going
Don’t forget to add more cheese to the burgers once they are on the grill

Add the sauce to the mushrooms
Hearty enough to be man food but pretty enough for us ladies.
