Crostini with Apples and Tallegio

Crostini with Apples and Tallegio 5

So, its 1 hour before your holiday party starts and you have nothing to bring. You could stop by the store and pick up store bought salsa and chips. Which will sit next to all the other store bought salsas and chips. Or, you can throw something together that will be unique and tasty. I don’t know about you, but I vote for option #2. I usually have fresh bread in my house and apples and some kind of cheese. But, even if you don’t, you still have time to run to the store, pick up the ingredients and still make this fresh for your party. We used tallegio because we like strong, stinky cheese. You could easily use brie, or even cheddar, would be good.

Making a dish to bring to a party does not have to be complicated, time consuming, or expensive. You can make something very simple that will still stand out and impress the other guests. Maybe spend a little extra money to buy a nice cheese but an apple only costs about 50 cents and the loaves of French bread at my grocery store are $1.25. No one I know would ever turn thier nose’s up to good cheese atop crusty bread. Throw in some apples with cinnamon and you can even check the “seasonally appropriate” box. Other guests will be impressed that you are so together! Kelly and I really like to experiment in the kitchen but we do realize that is not for everyone. This recipe is a great example of simple, quick, and delicious. It will really stand out amongst all of the other last minute, store bought, “stuff”.
