Let me just tell you right now: I am not a coffee drinker. Never was and never will be. I thought it would come with age but I don’t think that is happening anymore. I don’t like to drink coffee and I don’t like coffee flavoring in my food. However, I know that I am the minority. Most everyone I know is a coffee lover. Add some flavored syrup and a little cream and most everyone is a fan. I am the odd one out for sure. Cliff, Kelly, and my Mom all like coffee. And they LOVE vanilla iced coffees.
My Mom brews Iced coffee all summer long in her Toddy. This syrup is great added to both hot coffee and iced coffee. If you like flavored coffees you should definitely try making your own syrups at home. You can basically make a simple syrup and add whatever flavoring you’d like to it. Pumpkin spice, apple pie spice, chai, hazelnut-the list is endless. This is really easy to do and you can make the syrup in advance and keep it refrigerated. It will keep for about 2 weeks. It is a nice quick way to make gourmet coffee at home and inexpensively.

Here is what you’ll need. Minus the milk. Whoops.

Heat the sugar and water to create a syrup.

Whisk in the vanilla and the cinnamon.

Stir and allow to cool.

Add a little to coffee for a vanilla cinnamon iced coffee.
