Kelly’s Summer Favorites

I am the quintessential money spender. My financial adviser (aka BFF Jen) yells at me constantly for my spending woes. But I just love love love shopping and trying new products. I oftentimes find myself NEEDING to buy this and that after I read other bloggers’ rave reviews. I trust their judgment as if they were my closest friends.

So…I decided to compile a list of my current favorites. Just random summertime favorites that are tried and true and have put a smile on my face. Some of the items are local so sorry in advance to non-Chicago readers!

First up are these Tieks. I contemplated buying Tieks for the better part of a year before actually following through. I was non-committal for a couple reasons. First, I am severely short and usually opt to spend money on heels rather than flats. And second, every other ballet flat type shoe I’ve purchased has been uncomfortable and dug into my heels. I hate that!

A few months ago I finally bought a pair of Tieks, the Wild Copper to be exact. The turqouise box and white bow was so cute I couldn’t throw it away and the customer service was phenomenal. I wore them for a solid month before I was ready to write my thoughts.

Turns out I love my Tieks! It did take me a few days to wear them in though.  Now I wear them constantly and with everything! They are comfortable enough to walk all day in and I am loving the copper color, it was such a good choice. I wear them mostly to work, they are the absolute perfect shoe for work. I’m so happy with my Tieks that I’m thinking about another pair. I love the bright/fun colors and am considering the mint green patent.

My favorite skirt of the summer. Literally wore this 3 times in one week. I like to wear it with a loose fitted t-shirt with a knot tied at the bottom for the full on 80’s look. I think I can pull it off.

And of course my favorite dress of the summer. I bought it in white even though I am ghostly pale. I am a complete sucker for boho looks and this one had my name written all over it. So far I’ve only worn it once, to Winnie’s first birthday party. But I leave for Puerto Vallarta TOMORROW and plan to wear it again on vacation.

These Un-Wrinkle Pads. So I actually bought these about 6 months ago but didn’t fall in love until the last month or so. I use the pads at nighttime about 3 times per week, after I cleanse my face but before I apply my moisturizer. I find that by morning my skin is so so soft. I am a marketer’s dream-if a product says anything about minimizing or delaying wrinkles I have to buy it. But this stuff actually works!

Also, I swear by this primer. It’s on the pricier side but after trying many other primers I have definitely labeled this as my favorite. For starters it smells amazing, like rose petals. But more importantly it feels so silky on my skin and I really think it smooths my skin nicely, prepping it for foundation.

I’ve been loving Etsy for jewelry lately. I purchased these earrings in copper, mint green and pale blue and I wear them all the time, especially the copper. I tend to only wear studs; even though I love the idea of dangly earrings I never like the way they look on me. I don’t think I can pull them off and I hate when I can see them dangle out of the corner of my eye. But I love these studs! All 3 pairs are 12mm so they are not tiny. They are the perfect earrings for me.

The FitBit Flex is the newest band wagon i jumped on. I was totally against FitBits for a long time, but then I read about somebody (can’t even remember who) loving hers and I had to have one for myself. I have to admit, it is the best motivation. I need to be motivated to get my butt moving. I have my goal set to 12,000 steps per day and in order to meet it I need to go for at least an hour walk. I try to hit 15,000 steps a day but since it’s not obtainable for me on a daily basis I am happy as long as I hit 12,000.

The Osmosis Facial Infusion Peel at my favorite Spa is a once per month splurge that I always look forward to. In my old age I have begun worrying about sun spots. I’m going to be 29 soon. Eek! Anyways, I love this peel because it is gentle and I think it’s working to restructure my face, hopefully getting rid of gnarly sun spots! #goodriddance

I think Kara and I both consider ourselves ice cream connoisseurs. We’ve sure eaten our fair share. This past weekend, Kara, Cliff, Winnie and I hit up a new ice cream spot and realized that it did not compare to our absolute favorite places for cold treats…Black Dog Gelato and Capannari’s

And there you have it! My summer faves. I’d love to hear what you’re loving so far this summer. Please share!
